Be Intentional - an outline for discipleship and accountability
    1. You are going to have to prioritize your personal discipleship, accountability, and outreach. These must be planned for and the plan must be implemented.
      1. Discipleship – following Jesus
      2. Accountability – finding one or more people to support, share with, and pray for /with as we walk this Journey together.
        1. Accountability is not “telling each other what to do”, other than insisting that we pray and obey the Spirit’s leading in our lives.
        2. Accountability is about surrendering our self-centered journey for the benefits of friendship and brotherhood/sisterhood in the Body of Christ.
      3. Outreach – making Disciples of other people
        1. Outreach simply means that you intentionally develop relationships with people the Holy Spirit brings into your area of influence.
          1. E.g. – School groups, lunch hour, homework assignments, P.E., etc., etc., etc.
            1. God is not limited by the abundance or lack of people in your life. He will bring someone to you, either physically or in your thoughts, when you intentionally ask Him to.
        2. Take advantage of THE OPPORTUNITY.
          1. It’s simple. Each day, my activities put me in contact with people all over this town and region. Having the courage to see/sense the opportunity (sad facial expression, homeless person asking for money, counter girl at Wal-Mart I’m talking to, etc), through the Holy Spirit's guidance, leads to MORE OPPORTUNITY.
        3. Everyday, you see many of the same people. Start a conversation, and let it progress to a relationship.
    2. The Challenge
      1. Pick an accountability partner or partners (this is a person you KNOW loves God and others).
        1. Name(s)
          1. ______________________ 2. ________________________ 3. ________________________
    1. Talk to that/those person(s) Every Day
      1. Share
      2. Pray for each other
      3. Plan your outreach together
        1. Doesn’t have to be implemented together, but it may help to have someone with you as you approach someone ... (asking someone to sit with you at lunch, etc.)
        2. Share and pray about your plan and the people the Holy Spirit brings to you

We are not made to walk alone! God uses people to reach people, and that goes for us believers too. We need people we can be accountable to and walk this journey to Heaven with. Try this out! You won't be disappointed.

    Commitment (Proverbs 16:1-3 & Psalm 16:7-8)

The next logical step in the progression of Godly fear (an understanding of who God is related to how He sees us - resulting in a GOD-CENTERED focus and lifestyle) takes us down the path of Commitment. This is logical for so many reasons, the main one being that if we truly see God for who He is, and understand our place as His "created", then we are being wise to center all we do in the person of Christ - whose mind and will we live in and for.

So we make plans and live life understanding what the MAIN THING IS ---- God MUST be at the center of every thing we do. He is our foundation, and He guides our steps. Read Proverbs 16:1-3 and then read Psalm 16:7-8. Everything we do now, as believers, revolves around God. He is our center now; not ourselves. What we say, who we are friends with, how we treat people, the respect we have for authority, how we dress, where we go, what we look at, what we listen to - it all centers on who God is and what HE ALONE wants for us ...

Today's prayer: Father God, show me areas of my life where I am failing to make you my "center". Give me the courage and discipline to give these areas to YOU for Your glory. Thank you for being my CREATOR. I give you all that I am and all that I do ... in Jesus' name, amen.

Fear This ... Proverbs 15 and Psalm 15

Have you ever seen the car decals that say NO FEAR? Or, how about those that respond by saying FEAR THIS?!? I've always wanted to get one that says FEAR GOD, but someone probably already beat me to it.

FEAR GOD. FIrst of all, let's define what this means.

The fear of the Lord is an understanding and perspective that sees God for who He is, and an understanding and perspective of how God sees us. It is the knowledge of our place as "created" and His place as Creator. It is an understanding that all LIFE comes from Him, and without Him there is nothing good or valuable about ourselves.

The fear of the Lord is a GOD-CENTERED focus and lifestyle, where we look to Him for our righteousness (our right-doing) and everything we do and say is meant to lift Him up for the world to see ... to glorify Him alone. You cannot be SELF-CENTERED and GOD-CENTERED for very long. Christ is working in us as believers, continuously bringing us out of our sinful self-centeredness and into a God-centered focus. This is what Philippians 2:5 means when it says, "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus".

Today's scripture passages (Proverbs 15, Psalm 15) talk about the Fear of the Lord. Both chapters paint a verbal picture that contrasts a God-fearing person against a person who does not fear God. And what a dichotomy it is!!! You can't get more opposite views or results than what we see in these chapters. It's like oil and water ... they just don't go together.

So the question you must ask yourself today is this ... "Is my life God-centered or self-centered?" As you read today's scriptures, you see the result of each focus, and the rewards of each lifestyle.

You can't have both focuses. Which do you choose?

Today's prayer: "God, I repent of my self-centered focus and surrender to Your correction and discipline in my life. I commit to following You completely with my life, starting right now, and ask that You would bring the right people and circumstances to me to help me stay focused on You. In Jesus' name I give You myself, Amen."
